OVERLAND JOURNAL

“UNACCOMPANIED QUESTs”

Set against the otherworldly backdrop of the Trona Pinnacles, this project was born out of a solo escape into California’s high desert—part ride, part reset. I loaded up the Defender 110 with gear and took the KTM out into the open terrain, following instinct more than a map.

Photographer Rennie Solis joined for part of the trip to document the experience, capturing the in-between moments of movement, stillness, and the raw beauty of the landscape in a way that felt honest and cinematic. I also contributed a series of landscape photographs I shot throughout the journey, offering a personal perspective on the terrain and what it means to unplug and move through it.

The story and images came together in a multi-page feature for the Fall issue of Overland Journal—a reflection of what it looks like to chase solitude, exploration, and the unknown on your own terms.
